PANE DI PASQUA | ITALIAN EASTER BREAD

Pane di Pasqua is a traditional Italian Easter Bread recipe that is served with a dyed egg and sprinkles. This slightly sweet bread is twisted into a simple ring and is beautiful to serve for your Italian Easter celebration.

Ingredient 

– 4 cups all-purpose flour – 1/2 cup sugar – 1/2 cup warm milk – 1/2 cup melted butter – 3 egg – 1/2 cup mixed candied fruit – 1/4 cup raisin – 1/4 cup chopped almond – Zest of 1 lemon – 1 packet (7g) active dry yeast – Pinch of salt

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch or 9–10-inch spring form pan for a tall, fat cake or a shorter, thinner cake. Place parchment paper on the pan bottom and oil it.

In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, eggs, melted butter, and activated yeast mixture until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth, then add candied fruit, raisins, almonds, and lemon zest, kneading until well incorporated.

Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.

Divide the dough into 3 equal parts, braid them, and place on a baking sheet. Let it rise again for 30-45 minutes, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy your Italian Easter Bread!
