Lemon Brownies Recipe

Lemon-yum brownie-like bars. Lemon brownies are delicious alone or with a lemon glaze or cream cheese buttercream. 

– 300 g or 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar – Zest of three lemon – 1 tsp fine sea salt – 2 tsps pure vanilla extract – 1 tsp lemon extract – 170 g or ¾ cups butter unsalted and melted – 2 egg – 260 g or 2 cups all purpose flour Lemon Glaze (Option 1) – 1 ½ cups powdered sugar organic is preferred – 1-3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice – Pinch fine sea salt – 1 tsp pure vanilla extract Cream Cheese Buttercream (Option 2) – ½ cup or 113g package cream cheese – 113 g or 1/2 cup butter unsalted and softened – 1 cup powdered sugar – 1 tsp pure vanilla extract – Zest of lemon to top




Heat the oven to 350 F and grease an 8- or 9-inch square pan. Place parchment paper on the bottom of the pan.

STEP  1 .

Zest the lemons over the sugar in a bowl. To get the oils out, rub your fingers together. Put in the melted butter and mix it in with a whisk for two minutes.

It should come together and look shiny. Put in the extract, salt, and vanilla sugar. Mix well. To make it thick and shiny, add the eggs and whisk very hard.

Add the flour and mix it in. Spread out in the pan that has been prepared. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the middle has risen and then fallen.

Add lemon juice as needed to get the glaze's consistency (less juice for a thicker glaze, more juice for a thin, runny one).

Whisk the ingredients together. Spread on brownies that have cooled. You can add lemon zest to the glaze if you want to.

You need to beat the butter and cream cheese together until there are no more lumps. Add the sea salt and vanilla and mix them together.

If the powdered sugar is lumpy, sift it first. Then add it and beat it in. Spread on brownies that have cooled.
