ITALIAN EASTER COOKIES (AUTHENTIC BUTTERY SOFT RECIPE)
Italian Easter Cookies are one tradition you don't want to miss! These soft batch frosted cookies are super easy to make and perfect for holidays or any occasion.
– 4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 4 large egg
– 1 tablespoon baking powder
– Zest of 1 lemon
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Colored sprinkles (optional)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in the lemon zest and vanilla extract. Gradually add in the flour and baking powder, mixing until a dough forms.
Take small pieces of dough and roll them into ropes about 6 inches long. Shape them into rings or twists and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden. Let the cookies cool completely before optionally decorating with colored sprinkles. Buon appetito!
