Chocolate Halva Bundt Cake Recipe

There are chunks of nutty, sweet halva in the soft, chocolate bundt cake, and the glaze is made from halva and brown butter. 

Chocolate Halva Bundt Cake – 2 cups flour 275g – 1 ½ cups sugar 370g – ¾ cups dutch cocoa 85g – ¾ cup canola oil 163g – 2 teaspoons baking powder – 1 ½ cups kefir or buttermilk 387g – 3 egg – ¾ tsp salt – 1 teaspoon pure vanilla – 50 g crumbled halva Brown Butter Glaze – 3 tablespoons butter – 1 cup powdered sugar – Pinch salt splash of vanilla – 2-4 tablespoons heavy cream




Heat the oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a 10-cup bundt. Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

STEP  1 .

Beat eggs and sugar for 5 minutes in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Pour oil slowly into the batter with the beaters on, blending it in.

Slowly add half the flour mixture to the bowl, beating. After adding kefir and vanilla, add the remaining flour mixture.

Mix to make a smooth batter. Mix in crumbled halva. Pour into the bundt pan and bake for 60 minutes until it bounces back when pressed in the center.

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10–30 minutes. Invert the pan and lift it to place the cake on a plate. Cool completely before glazing.

Cook butter in a skillet until brown for the glaze. Scrape pan to remove brown bits and place in bowl. After cooling, skim the milky top and discard.

Mix brown butter bits, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream in a bowl to make a thick glaze. Pour over cake and top with crumbled halva.
