AUTHENTIC ITALIAN MOSTACCIOLI RECIPE

Ingredient 

– 1 lb (450g) mostaccioli pasta – 1/4 cup (60ml) extra virgin olive oil – 1 onion, finely chopped – 2 cloves garlic, minced – 1 lb (450g) ground beef or pork – 1 can (28 oz/800g) crushed tomatoe – 1 teaspoon dried oregano – 1 teaspoon dried basil – Salt and pepper to taste – 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese – Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Cook the mostaccioli pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until they become translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the ground beef or pork to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked mostaccioli pasta with the meat sauce, tossing until the pasta is evenly coated.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Once baked, remove the foil and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
